1. Name

Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association (JASMA)

2. Purpose

The JASMA aims to develop and implement surveys and plans, and promote standardization in the production, distribution, etc. of sewing machinery, sewing machinery parts and accessories, and sewing-related equipment, including hand knitting machines (hereinafter called "Sewing and Other Equipment."), in order to bring about the overall development of the Sewing and Other Equipment industries, to help to raise the quality of people's lives and contribute to the development of Japan's national economy.

(1) Develop and implement surverys and proposals for the production, distribution, etc.
　　 of Sewing and Other Equipment.
(2) Promote standardization in Sewing and Other Equipment.
(3) Publicize and educate concerning applied technology for Sewing and Other
　　Equipment.
(4) Hold international exhibitions for Sewing and Other Equipment.
(5) Exchange and cooperate with domestic and overseas organizations, etc.
　　concerning Sewing and Other Equipment.
(6) Any activities incidental or relating to any of the preceding items, and any
　　enterprises necessary to achieve the aims of the Association.

Name changed to Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association
(Japan Household Sewing Machine Manufacturers' Association, Japan Industrial Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association, Japan Sewing Machine Exporters' Association, and Japan Sewing Machine Parts Industry Association have been amalgamated.)

5. Members

(1) Regular members are corporations or individuals involved in the manufacture of Sewing and 　
　　Other Equipment.
(2) Supporting members are persons who support the objectives of JASMA and who wish to 　　
　　cooperate with JASMA activities.
